<li>Understand the terminologies used in Carnatic musical parlance </li>
<li>Gain familiarity with the basic seven notes.</li>
<li>Attain perfection of the Svaras through the prescribed exercises</li>
<li>Traverse comfortably in a single octave, mastering singing of all notes</li>
<li>Be motivated to pursue the next level of learning</li>

<div>By the end of this course, students should be able to -</div>

<li>Sing the sarali varisais in at least 2 speeds in the Ragam Mayamalavagowla with the tala</li>
<li>Gain familiarity with the basic seven notes  and to be able to sing at least a few swaras in the right shruthi</li>
<li>Traverse comfortably in a single octave</li>
<li>Sing one Nottu Swaram with perfection in swarasthanas and Talam</li>

Student who is unable to achieve the outcomes will have to repeat the course or will be suggested an alternate course. The decision will be taken by the Curriculum Coordinator and the Teacher for the course.

This course is ideal for students looking to take their first steps into the world of Carnatic Music.Entry level foundation course for students who are ready to start right at the beginning and do not have any prior experience learning Indian/Carnatic music, covering the lessons/exercises to understandind the building blocks of music, which are the 7 notes.This course will help students understand the concept of Pitch (shruthi) and position of notes and also help in being able to identify them. To learn basic Swara patterns (saralivarisais) in the Ragam Mayamalavagowla along with its scale (arohana and avarohana).Aakara practice and creative swara exrcises will also be explored. This course also teaches the student two short Nottu Swarams (small songs) which are compositions of Sri Muthu Swamy Dikshitar.
